Arizona nudist resorts, compared
Two landed resorts publish current rates in Arizona: Shangri La Ranch north of Phoenix and Mira Vista in Tucson. They differ more than their descriptions suggest, starting with what a weekend costs.

Quick answer
Shangri La Ranch for price and activity, Mira Vista for rooms
Arizona has two landed nudist resorts that publish current rates: Shangri La Ranch in New River, on the northern edge of the Phoenix area, and Mira Vista on the northwest edge of Tucson. Shangri La is the cheaper and busier of the two, with a $20 daily resort fee, rooms from $55 and a full weekly calendar. Mira Vista charges more for a day visit but includes the fee in room rates and is the smaller, quieter place to stay. Both are clothing-optional rather than nude-required, and both welcome families.

Normalized
What a two-night weekend costs a couple
Room rates and daily fees are counted differently at the two resorts, so the totals are closer to useful than the headline prices. For two adults arriving Friday and leaving Sunday, before tax, with no nudist-organization membership:
- Shangri La Ranch, basic room: $150 for two Friday and Saturday nights at $75, plus the $20 resort fee for each of you on each of the three days you’re there, $120. About $270. A cabin raises the room part to $220, about $340 in all.
- Shangri La Ranch, full-hookup RV site: $40 for two nights plus $120 in resort fees, about $160.
- Mira Vista, standard room: two nights at $236 with the daily fee already included, about $472.
The gap narrows for regulars. A card from AANR or another national nudist organization cuts Shangri La’s resort fee by 20% and Mira Vista’s room rate by $14 a night. Mira Vista’s annual membership also includes AANR membership and 14 days a year at Laguna del Sol in California, which matters if you’d use both.
New River, north of Phoenix
Shangri La Ranch
Shangri La describes itself as family-friendly and open to everyone interested in naturism, and it follows AANR’s non-discrimination bylaws on age, gender, marital status and sexual orientation. Every guest registers at the office before entering, and day passes run out at 7 pm.
It is the more social of the two. The calendar runs events through the week, the Bare Buns Café opens from Friday dinner to Sunday lunch, and the resort hosted a clothing-optional 5K on October 17, 2026. There is no bar, so bring your own drinks, and no glass or food in the pool and spa area. Quiet hours start at 11 pm on weeknights and 1 am on weekends.
Its rules on conduct are plain: affection should stay friendly, and “provocative conduct or sexual misconduct” isn’t tolerated. Children under 12 need an adult with them in the pool and spa areas.
Tucson
Mira Vista
Mira Vista has 14 guest suites in adobe-style buildings on 30 acres, plus one- and two-bedroom condos. It markets “wholesome nude recreation,” requires guests to be nude in the pools and spa, and is strict about cameras: no video cameras at all and stickers over phone lenses.
The office is open from 9 am to 5 pm daily, which is when to call for a first visit, and the lounge opens on Friday and Saturday nights. The resort offers a first-timer coupon on its site. Management reserves the right to refuse entry, and the policy page names overt sexual behavior as grounds for being asked to leave.

Timing
When to go
Both resorts sit in the Sonoran Desert, so the comfortable months for spending a day outdoors are roughly October through April. Shangri La signals the summer slowdown itself: its dry campsites close from June through August. If you go in summer, plan around early mornings and evenings and check the calendar for events that have moved indoors.
What we left out
Not on this list, and why
El Dorado Hot Springs in Tonopah, west of Phoenix, appears in an October 2026 AZ Big Media roundup as a rustic mineral spa with clothing-optional pools. The web address most listings give for it no longer resolves, so we couldn’t check its current rules or prices against the operator. Call before driving out.
Lakes, creeks and hot springs on public land, also named in that roundup, are outside this guide. They have no operator or posted rules, and nudity there isn’t sanctioned the way it is at a resort.
For a comparison with the West Coast, our California nudist resorts status check covers Lupin Lodge, Laguna del Sol and Glen Eden, and the California hot springs guide covers resorts built around mineral pools.
